Jay Formicola

Virgin Headset was formed in by Jay Formicola along with Paj Coscole on drums and keyboard and Helen Elam on Bass. This was Jay's first real gigging original band. After the break up of Second Division Jay decided to teach his girlfriend (Later to become wife) Helen to play bass. With Paj on drums the trio became super tight with very strong grooves and crazy but well structured songs and freak outs. They played all of the local Rochester clubs including the famous Scorgie's where they headlined as well as opening for larger local and national acts. They often shared the bill with the Raunchettes at Schatzee's. Although the Headset was more of an experimental band, somehow it worked with the pure punk of the Raunchettes.
